That's just how he defines the term.Scrutineerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16556970103045514403noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7871003.post-52809540680003592752010-03-02T12:06:56.282-05:002010-03-02T12:06:56.282-05:00Good points, particularly about Tod and the pothea...Good points, particularly about Tod and the potheads. However, I would also make a distinction. Tod and the potheads are both indifferent, but for different reasons. Tod is indifferent because he has a driving interest and the potheads are indifferent because they, well, smoke pot (alternative argument: potheads have particular appeal because they appear as a blank slate). What they each share is that they both have time-consuming interests besides the woman.

Regardless of this distinction though, the reason they are attractive to women is simple: the women are emphatically NOT the center of the man’s life. Roissy may or may not be right about how to express this to a woman (neg hitting, for instance), but he is undoubtedly right that a beta male will have trouble doing this, whereas an alpha male may not. This, of course, does not mean that an alpha male will not eventually love and cherish a woman who becomes the center of his life, but it does mean that a woman will much less respect a man who instantly makes her the center of his life and that the type of man who does this is a beta.

Also, I think you misunderstand Roissy when you say that his mistake is "believing that alpha status has anything to do with women." Here, I think you two are actually on the same page. If you could boil his philosophy (such as it is) into a few points, one of them would be that part of being an alpha is not acting as if women are the center of your life. Which, of course, is another way of saying what you're saying - alphaness is defined not by women, but by a whole world of things beyond them.

These comments aside, good post.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14752396833493855264noreply@blogger.com
