Good News

Warner has done something very right with the Harry Potter series: They've cast George Harris as Kingsley Shacklebolt. Because the world is an unjust place, I was certain Morgan Freeman would get the part, since he's the guy you cast when you need a stately, aristocratic black man. Nothing against Freeman, who's wonderful, but Harris is a fantastic actor and much better suited for the role.

Let us also not forget George Harris's defining role as Mr. Katanga, looking very Old Spice, in Raiders of the Lost Ark: "Jones is dead. I killed him..."

Harris is wonderful. Hooray! I did picture Shackelbolt as younger, but I'm sure Harris will be great.

Worried they would cast Freeman? There hasn't been a single American cast in a prominent role in these movies, there was no chance they were going to case Freeman as Shackelbolt. To their credit they have no cast an American because it's simply too risky because of the accent, you might end up with Shakespeare in Love, 2 hours of valley girl Paltrow and Bostonian Affleck with fake English accents was truly painful to watch.
Harris was terrific in Layer Cake, I think it was an excellent choice.
