Harrison Ford for President

The always great Jenny has this awesome Harrison Ford quote:
I grew up in the mid-west. You don't ask what a person's religion is, you don't ask what their politics are, you don't ask how much money they make and I pretty much still have that attitude about it. It's none of anybody's business and I don't advantage anyone by telling them what my personal politics are... The arguments are much too subtle to be entered in that way, to my mind. There are things that I think are happening in the world that are egregious mistakes but I'm only operating out of my own box and I don't have any expertise. I'm a voter... I have one vote, that's all I should have.

In defense of JVL, it's so incredibly rare for a show-biz celebrity to express humility in this manner that hearing it could easily cause a person to get the vapors.

Mr Ford has my respect. Some actors realize that we admire their on screen persona and don't want that admiration dashed by a few words which weren't in the script. He appears to be a class act.

I'm thinking more of like a second-tier Cabinet post. Senate confirmation, of course, and sure, in the succession line--but the baddies are going to have to go Macbeth on everyone before Harrison gets AF1.

Maybe HHS? DOE? Help me out here people.

See, but now I'm thinking Supreme Court. This kind of modesty and self-restraint are precisely the dispositional traits one looks for in a jurist. And surely it goes without saying that Harrison Ford would make a better nominee than Harriet "Warren" Miers, no?

Oh, and Jenny? Love you, babycakes!

Maybe some kind of blue-ribbon civic do-goody commission. You know, to give the boys a Brookings a terminal hard-on.

If only Harrison Ford actually lived by these words. Back in 2003, while in Madrid, he criticized the war in Iraq, criticized US foreign policy, etc.
OK - So it is not as bad as some of the other crap that comes out of Tinsel Town, and maybe he has grown up in the two plus years since he made his foreign policy pronouncements, but he seems to be full of shit here.
Jonathan - surpirsed you did not remember this, you being an expert in Hollywood and being the smartest guy in the World, an all.
