Dept. of Inevitability

This isn't meant to be flip but as a semi-serious question: If someone had asked you last Thursday to rank the following three events in terms of increasing inevitability, how would you have put them?

* Big Brown wins the Belmont.

* Lakers win the NBA Finals.

* Obama wins the White House.

Just a thought.

True, nothing is inevitable.

But if McCain's chances has been reduced to "well, anything can happen," then you have to feel pretty pessimistic about Bill Kristol's candidate.

Again, anything could happen. But if you want McCain to win so bad you have to do better than wait for the Fates to intervene.

Just a thought.
