my hero. Practically every major thinker of modernity bemoans the small-souledness of bourgeois man, then you come upon these incredible examples (like the heroes of
Flight 93) in which ordinary guys prove themselves capable of true bravery and selflessness.

Richard Engel of NBC news met another "real man" yesterday.
"As I was standing there, obviously unarmed, feeling very exposed wearing a bright blue flak jacket, there was a soldier standing next to me. I didn't know him, I hadn't even noticed him before and suddenly as the gunshots were coming at us he came over to me and he said 'it's gonna be ok, don't worry' and he actually stepped right in front of me, protecting me with his body and began to return fire with the insurgents..."
