As previously noted here, CNN is reporting that Law & Order may be on its way out. It will be a sad, sad day for America when the axe finally falls.
(Note to CNN editors: Law & Order has spawned four spinoffs, not two. In addition to SVU and Criminal Intent, both of which are still on the air; Law & Order also begat Law & Order: Trial by Jury and Conviction.)

You are being facetious, aren't you?
Aren't you?

I can't say I'll mourn it much. It's long past its prime, and it passed Hawaii Five-O a few years back as the longest-running cop show in history. What more could you want?
Still, I used to stay up 'til like 3 a.m. to watch Grevey & Logan reruns on A&E years back...
After they killed Claire Kincaid, it was all downhill.
They killed Claire Kincaid? Adam, clearly you don't understand. The death penalty killed Claire Kincaid.
(You're totally right. Was there a hotter smart chick than Jill Hennessy as Claire? Since she frizzed her hair and lost 40 IQ points on Crossing Jordan, though, I gotta say the thrill is gone. Maybe her twin sister Jacqueline still has the bob...)
ER is past its prime. L&O has a format -- working procedural with no character development from show to show -- to which a term like "past its prime" has no meaning. It's like calling the moon "jocular."
Still, why won't anyone show reruns from before 2002 anymore? I miss Ben Stone.
Bill:
By "the death penalty," do you mean "drunk-ass Lenny Briscoe," or "Jack 'To Hell With Her' McCoy"? If so, then I agree wholeheartedly.
Claire's hotness was matched only once, and that's when Jamie Ross peeled off the suit jacket in order to get the prisoner to chat. Either of those two lovely ladies put Abbie "The Idiot Stick Figure" Carmichael to shame.
It's been all downhill ever since "Is it because I'm a lesbian?" Actually, I wonder if Thompson's "no" answer will come back to haunt him if he runs...
Actually there were 2 other short lived spinoffs. There was L&O Crime and Punishment which told the story from the criminal's view. And there was a summer edition that followed real cases. (I think that lasted two summers.)
And there was a one shot movie to give Chris Noth some screen time.
