Uncle Grambo delivers a link that really is piping hot: A Radar bitch-slap at Nick Denton and his wee assemblage.
If you care about this sort of thing, read immediately. Radar is going to make it socially acceptable for people other than Jack Shafer to say be mean to Denton properties.

Regarding the line, "Two years later he was promoted to editorial director of the Gawker Media group, a role he’s since relinquished to the former managing editor of something called Hamptons Cottages and Gardens.", the new managing editor is Lockhart Steele, the editor of curbed.com, an excellent blog on NYC real estate that gets enough traffic to get sponsored by the NY Times. Radar's bitchiness in this respect is like me referring to Mr. Last as someone who was a former team member at McDonald's.
Thanks for the comment, Lock.
Radar did the nail on the head in at least one respect--the Wonkette website has turned into a less-thoughtful Kos-derivative with all the flair and humor of a Katrina Vanden Heuvel-editorial. Not a winning combination.
This descent into dreck began well before Ms. Cox departed; she was much like Maureen Dowd in attempting to apply her own special brand of witticisms (increasingly stale anatomical references) to serious topics. The expiration date for her sort of "blogging" was measured in weeks. Unclear how much luck she will have flogging her book without the Dentonverse pedestal, but her return to anonymity and failed journalist status could be near at hand.
