The Fine Legal Minds of the Lone Star State

I don't know that these gentlemen are from Texas--I'm guessing based on their accents. But wow, this deposition video is just awesome.

(Bonus: Think any of them went to SMU Law?)

SMU Law? Oh, I get it. Man, you are so funny! Still got a hard on for Harriet Meyers? You should let it go because it makes you look small.
BTW - What law school did you go to, Jon?

The attorney taking the dep, Joe Jamail, is pretty famous and very successful. He's a plaintiff's attorney who has won approximately $13 billion in jury verdicts. Forbes lists his net worth as about $1.4 billion. In other words, a pretty fair country lawyer.

SMU Law is ranked 43 in the 2007 US News & World Report. This means it is a top tier school for US News & World Report and a spot many law schools envy. It is not bad. In Texas, UT is the only other Texas law school ranked higher (at 16). Baylor is ranked 51 and Houston is 71.

I don't get it, SMU is not a bad law school. Harriet Miers may not have been a great nominee but it wasn't her law school's fault.

Man, you guys don't get it. The problem Johnny V had with Harriet Miers wasn't that she went to SMU, but that she had a fairly unimpressive resume as a lawyer, was never a judge, and on top of that, went to SMU. She was at no point in her life impressive in her legal pursuits. She wasn't impressive enough as an undergrad to go to a top-tier school, she wasn't impressive enough as a lawyer to be a judge on any level, and when she's finally nominated for the bench it is the highest bench in the land. Totally ridiculous. Bush has never recovered.

Yes I do get it and I even said that Harriet Meirs was not a great nominee (meaning she was a bad nominee). However, the SMU jab in the post was clearly a reference to Harriet Miers. If not then what was it? Explain.
