So Long, Stars Hollow

Hercules points us to this TV Guide story reporting that Amy Sherman-Palladino is leaving Gilmore Girls.

Sad news. Let's hope she gets a chance to do another good show.

That's too bad. Although admitting that I watch that show qualifies me as a woman.

Go to Television Without Pity; most long-time fans are aghast at the creators.

Basically, screwing up the characters worse than Joss Whedon did with his.

I would not be shocked to see CW cancel the show -- the creators essentially destroyed main storylines and made the title characters unlikeable passive-aggressive spoiled rich girls with rich playboy boyfriends.

Even so the show is worth following for what it says about what women writers want in men: rich but weak playboys over the responsible working class guys.

Oh, stop. How can you use one writer of one show to tar all women writers' choices in men? I mean, really.

I've been rooting for Luke since the first season. So has any fan with a brain. What I see going on this year is Amy continuing with a long-standing tradition of Rory choosing really bad boyfriends. All of them sucked. The first two had anger issues, the latest is her father redux.

Rory needs to have someone smack her upside the head and tell her she has crappy taste in men.
