The New York Times newsroom is reportedly still undecided on whether or not to print a recent letter received from Obama, in which the president threatens to kill another helpless citizen every Tuesday and "fill [his] heavenly palace with slaves for the afterlife" unless the police "stop the darkness from screaming."

The Onion is just doing what it did during the campaign. It is making fun of Obama's supporters. Obama is not really the subject ot the story, and it has nothing to do with a real Obama weakness.
But since the supporters in this story are the media, conservatives love it.
I think what you--and the Onion--are missing is that it is far too late for the Onion to make fun of Obama himself. Instead, they will keep trying to make jokes about people's reactions to him. But that gets old fast.
Tom is more or less correct. What we're seeing with the Onion's coverage of Obama is very similar to how it handled the Clinton years--articles that put a President they support in a goofy, but never critcial, light. Think back to Clinton going back in time to team up with "Golden-Age" Clinton, or any other numerous spoofs that lightheartedly placed Clinton in wacky situations but rarely, if ever, attacked his politics.
Just over the past few months we've already seen Obama peeved about cabinet members not understanding his comic book references or Obama dejected since Battlestar came to an end. Undoubtedly these were funny articles, but nonetheless safe, sterilized, and removed from the real-world politics of the Obama administration.
In contrast the Onion's coverage of Bush was generally confrontational, attacking his politics and his policies under a thin veneer of satire. The tone was far more aggressive.
Granted, the Onion has done a brilliant job in skewering the inanity of blindly devoted Obama worshippers, subject matter which I thought would have been taboo. But, to date, the Onion, like almost every other media outlet, has not dared in its wildest fantasies to cast a critical eye on any of Obama's policies or politics since taking office.
Perhaps after mocking Obama supporters, it will muster the courage to satirize the man himself but don't hold your breath.
