Negadelphia

Bob Ford writes a perfectly Philadelphia Eagles column, which is really just doom-saying about the Giants:
Whatever. They won. They jumped around. They held on to the division lead.

Enjoy it for now, guys. If it's this hard to beat the Eagles, the road ahead doesn't extend quite as far as you think.

Again: how's that 16-0 prediction coming?

From my days living in West Chester, PA listening to WIP, I relish listing to bitter Eagles fans.

You will never see an article like this written in any of the NY papers. It is really a perfect example of the inferiority complex that infects almost all things Philly. The Eagles are the greatest team that has never won anything. The bottom line - Eagles lose. The Giants are better. I know that is tough for men like Ford to take, but it is the truth. Maybe if he was a better writer he might make the big time and write for a NY paper.

hey anon 3:19, what about the Minnesota Vikings in the 1970's?

Giants suffered four injuries at key positions during the game. That's cause for concern. Otherwise, winning a close one at a division rival is pretty much good news for Giants fans, not bad news. I mean, I wish the Giants smoked the Igs, but I'm glad it wasn't the other way around. I do love the faux concern some hack Philly sportswriter has for the Giants, though. Talk about classic Phila. inferiority complex vis-a-vis the bigtown. It would be funny if it weren't so sad.

Hey Anon 3:41 -
Point taken - or the Buffalo Bills of the early nineties.
The difference between these teams and the current Eagles is that these teams actually made it to the big game more than one time.
The Eagles are (or, rather have been) a real good team for a number of years. As a Giants fan I would love to have had Andy Reid or Donovan for the past few years (no longer, but I still might take Reid), but this is a team that is way over rated, especially by delusional Philly sportswriters.
