Keep in mind that the argument the author is making is limited to "single-use" restrooms, or those that only one person can use at a time. He agrees that the traditional office "multi-use" restroom should be segregated.
I tend to agree with the thought of doing away with men- and women-only single use restrooms, but for a different reason - efficiency.
The probability of waiting to use a restroom will go down when you have two to choose from instead of one. The downside to this of course is that you'll probably see fewer side-by-side single-use rooms if the distinction between men and women is removed.
