You Know You're Old When . . .

the movies being remade are beloved films from your childhood.

Really, Clash of the Titans? Hera help us. How I loved Judi Bowker.

Clash of the Titans was a Ray Harryhausen movie (which makes it cool from a pre-CGI special effects aspect); however, the movie was absolutely terrible! I really don't know how they managed to screw up a great story but they did. In addition, it had some pretty big names (for example, Laurence Olivier.)

I really enjoy Greek mythology and I think with the use of CGI, all of those great stories could be done right just like Lord of the Rings. I would love to see Ulysses or Jason and the Argonauts remade. I was terribly disappointed that 2004's Troy, chose not to employ the gods and other-wordly stuff. It would have been a much better movie.

Let's not forget the remake of Revenge of the Nerds. If any movie from our childhood was screaming to be be remade, it's that one.

I saw that one in the theater. The story of Perseus is a great one for the screen, and should benefit from the improvements in technology. Just leave out Caliban and Bubo the stupid mechanical owl. Talk about getting old, I'm now reading the Greek Myths to my 5 year old daughter.

You know you're getting old when you and your college friends laughed your way through Clash of the Titans, and now you're reading a blogger who was a child at the time....

Jonathan, you're not old. I am.
