Eagles Play Hardball

The national media is obsessed with TO, but Eagles fans are more worried about Brian Westbrook, who has yet to show up at training camp.

How tough is the Eagles management when it comes to handling personnel issue? This tough:
Just yesterday, quarterback Donovan McNabb called Westbrook "our ultimate weapon." You had to be there to hear it, though, because the complimentary quote from McNabb's news conference was the only one not included in the transcript handed out by the team's media services and posted on the official Web site for thoughtful digestion by you, the fans.

All will be fine Johnny, no need to jump off the building...yet.

Don't worry, I've put a double reverse jinx in the Eagles favor by laying $50 in Vegas on the Cowboys to win the SB.

The Eagles are playing the Owens situation well and the Westbrook situation badly.

I don't know what contract they offered or what his demands were. yes, I read the article saying the Eagles offered Tiki money (ballpark). Not saying they didn't, but I remain skeptical.

Anyway, he's likely in shape, he knows the system, and I'm fairly confident a deal will be worked out. Worst case is he comes in late and is slow to get into the rotation. Might keep him fresher at the end of the year.

I didn't sweat the TO holdout, because it's not in his favor. I'm not sweating the Westbrook holdout, because I think both know how well they complement and need each other.

Minor addition: The reason why I think the front office is playing it badly is because the fans are in support of Westbrook getting a new deal. They're attempt to shape events through the media is backfiring. You can play that in the sticks, but not in Philly (or NY, for that matter).
