Normally, I get no pleasure out of seeing the Eagles beat either Dick Vermeil or Herm Edwards, both of whom are great guys who bleed green. But yesterday's gutsy comeback win was sweet. You can't spot a team like the Chiefs 17 points, on the road, and win. Just can't do it.
In other, semi-related news, my heart goes out to Hugh Hewitt and other Tribe fans. In my experience, Indians and Cardinals fans are pretty much the best in baseball--smart, genteel, passionate. It's a shame this very nice and very young Cleveland team couldn't hold it together down the stretch.
But Indians fans: Courage! This is a young club and the important thing is that the organization has rebounded. In modern baseball, small-market teams are supposed to diminish into .400 ball once the core of players from their last generation pass on. This Indians team defied that logic. It couldn't happen to a better city.

Jonathan,
I agree with you on all points (espcially regarding the Eagles) but not about the point regarding small-market teams and problems when the past generation leaves the scene...
One of the most interesting things about this season, in fact right after the Indians is the A's. If you go back 3 years ago and tell me that the A's would lose Tejada, Giambi, Hudson, Mark Mulder, and constantly gut any quality arms out of their bull pen and still be competitive this year I would have said you were crazy.
The A's are the ultimate small market team with a bad stadium and in the wrong metro market for 2 teams - worse off than Cleveland but by being agressive in managing in roster have completely retooled for the next several years with nowhere near the drop-off Cleveland had
Still giddy about them Eagles.....
Mike
If you want or like Herm Edwards, PLEASE TAKE HIM. This man is killing the Jets with his moron offense.
Edwards makes Rich Kotite look like Bill Walsh.
The Birds followed Herm's oft repeated advice "YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!" lol....
Dmac is now on pace for 44 TDS, 12INTs and 5300 yds. That's with his gut (literally) hanging out.
What are the Skins?
